Setting up your Airnet Email on an Email Client/Program

PLEASE NOTE THAT SMTP PORT 25 IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE NETWORK.
The port number has been designated for mail-server to mail-server communication.

Email Setup for IMAP Connections (Recommended):

Many clients will automatically configure the appropriate IMAP and SMTP connection settings for your account, but confirm that the connection settings your client configures are the same as what’s listed below.

  • Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server
    • Hostname: imap.airnet.ca
    • Port: 993
    • Use Secure Password Authentication (SPA): No
    • Encryption: Normal Password/None
      ** One of the below settings must be enabled **
    • TLS: Yes (Recommended over SSL)
    • SSL: No
  • Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
    • Hostname: smtp.airnet.ca
    • Port: 587
    • Use Secure Password Authentication (SPA): No
    • Requires authentication: Yes
    • Use same settings as incoming mail server: Yes
    • Encryption: Normal Password/None
      ** One of the below settings must be enabled **
    • TLS: Yes (Recommended over SSL)
    • SSL: No
  • Full Name or Display Name: [your name]
  • Account Name or User Name: your full Airnet email address (username@airnet.ca)
  • Email address: your full Airnet email address (username@airnet.ca)
  • Password: your Airnet email password

You may be prompted to accept our TLS/SSL security certificate. Upon receiving this prompt, please confirm the security certificate to continue on in your email setup. Please note – this is a self-signed certificate, and is as secure as any other certificate.

If your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won’t be able to send mail through your client using your Airnet address.

 

Email Setup for POP3 Connections:

Many clients will automatically configure the appropriate POP3 amd SMTP connection settings for your account, but confirm that the connection settings your client configures are the same as what’s listed below.

  • Incoming Mail (POP3) Server
    • Hostname: pop3.airnet.ca
    • Port: 995
    • Use Secure Password Authentication (SPA): No
    • Encryption: Normal Password/None
      ** One of the below settings must be enabled **
    • TLS: Yes (Recommended over SSL)
    • SSL:Yes
  • Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
    • Hostname: smtp.airnet.ca
    • Port: 587
    • Use Secure Password Authentication (SPA): No
    • Requires authentication: Yes
    • Use same settings as incoming mail server: Yes
    • Encryption: Normal Password/None
